established in 1988, and duly registered with the NGO Board and NGO Forum. IAU
is actively involved in programs geared towards the protection and improvement
of lives of disadvantaged people living in urban and rural areas in Uganda and
in the Great Lakes Region. InterAid Uganda is focused on its thematic areas of
Rights Protection, Education, Livelihood & Food Security, Health
(HIV&AIDS; Malaria; Maternal and Reproductive Health), Water, Sanitation &
Hygiene (WASH), Environment and Disaster Management and good Management and
Governance systems.
Job Summary: The Livelihood Officer will be in charge of planning,
coordinating and leading the implementation of livelihood activities to support
the refugee and host community in Kampala to get, maintain and develop
sustainable livelihoods.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for planning and coordination of
    all livelihood activities of the Programme.
  • Mentor and train identified refugees in
    business / Entrepreneur skills.
  • Responsible for networking with other private
    and public livelihood institutions for external livelihood opportunities.
  • Conduct Business clinics for refugees interested
    in starting businesses.
  • Support provision of funds to refugee groups
    to start Income Generating Activities.
  • Represent IAU and participate in Sector
    meetings and other forums
  • Mobilize and sensitize refugees’ communities
    on livelihood issues and facilitate them to take individual and or group
    decision on improving their livelihoods.
  • Support refugees, develop and implement business
    plans for self-reliance.
  • Support and advise refuges on coming up with
    groups and their management.
  • Carry out routine monitoring and field visits
    on IGA funds granted.
  • Conduct site visits and assessment of groups
    before releasing IGA funds
  • Support the desk in recovering the extended
    IGA funds
  • Compile and submit weekly, monthly,
    quarterly, annual and specific activity reports to the Programs Officer
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
    Degree in Business Management, Administration, Micro-finance or any business
    related course
  • Possession of post graduate qualifications in
    micro-finance, banking or any business management course will be an added
    advantage
  • At least four years relevant work experience
    in a similar role
  • Prior experience in micro-finance and loans
    management is desirable
