Christian University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological
College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College
trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The
local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
International partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The
Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the
College had the necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s,
the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the
higher education – not only of clergy but of other professionals as well.

Job Summary: The Lecturer- Statistics will conduct research,
teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the Department,
especially in the area of Statistics and Economics.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tutor at undergraduate level in areas
allocated by the Dean of Faculty/Head of Department - Conduct research, teaching, mentoring, and
administration within the Faculty of Business. - Actively engage with the broader scholarly
and professional communities. - Significantly contribute to the development,
planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum. - Render support in the development of learning
materials and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement
and attendance. - Supervise or assist with supervision of undergraduate
and taught graduate (Masters) students. - Actively participate in departmental and
faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building
interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department. - Take part in the development, administration
and marking of exams and other assessments - Provide pastoral care and support to
students. - Actively participate in the administration of
the department’s programs of study and other activities as requested. - Significantly contribute to departmental,
faculty, wide working groups or committees as requested. - Maintain own continuing professional
development. - Perform any other official duties assigned by
the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should hold a Postgraduate qualification
at Master’s level in Business Statistics from a recognized Institution of
Higher Learning. - The incumbent should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Statistics with at least an upper second from a recognized
Institution of Higher Learning. - Prior University teaching experience at the
rank of a Lecturer or an Assistant Lecturer for at least two (2) years, or
Tutorial Assistant for at least three (3) years. - Must have at least one scholarly article or
publication OR should have undertaken at least one research paper. - The applicant must be self-motivated.
- The applicant must be a mature and committed
Christian.
