Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, not-for-profit, international
University first established in 1983, with II campuses and teaching sites in 8
countries including Uganda.
- The Library Assistant will provide front-line
library & information services. - Receive, process and catalogue books,
periodicals, and other library materials. - Enter bibliographic details in the library
system and to update other library databases. - The jobholder will also shelf books, label
them, and maintain shelf reading for easy guide. - The Library Assistant will be tasked with the
registration of library users and maintain their records and user
statistics. - Lend materials (charge and discharge] and
monitor over dues to be sent notices. - Cover new books, spiral bind when necessary
and weed tom books for repair. - Provide reference services to users and
maintain reservations. - The incumbent will support library users in
retrieving information resources both in print and electronic formats. - Carry out user education and information
literacy for students and staff. - Regularly handle cash relating to charges and
fines; and collate this with the finance office. - Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
- The applicant should hold a Diploma in
Library and Information Science or equivalent experience. - The Library Assistant should be a good team
player - Accuracy and attention to detail
- Computer literacy i.e. Good IT skills
including familiarity with Microsoft Office and internet.
