About New Vision:
The
Vision Group incorporated as the New Vision Printing & Publishing Company
Limited (NVPPCL), started business in March 1986. It is a multimedia business
housing newspaper, magazines, internet publishing, television, radio
broadcasting, commercial printing, advertising and distribution services.
NVPPCL is listed on the Uganda Stock Exchange, with an expected turnover of
over UGX 60 billion (FY 2010/2011).
Job Summary: The Graphics Designer will be responsible for
skillfully designing and produce visual solutions to the communication needs of
internal & external clients using a mix of creative skills & commercial
awareness.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design timely, creative & accurate
    artworks for all titles to both internal and external clients to maintain
    and improve company standards.
  • Ensure quality checks on all adverts to avoid
    make goods/complaints.
  • Provide quick, professional and accurate
    information & advice on design and technical specifications of artwork
    to internal & external clients.
  • Meet with clients and account managers to
    discuss business objectives and job requirements.
  • Maintain and build strong working
    relationships with internal & external clients to ensure customer
    satisfaction.
  • Support the Corporate team with all corporate
    adverts to avoid delays and ensure copy flow for printing.
  • Work closely with printers on a regular basis
    to ensure deadlines are met and high quality material is printed and deliver
    adverts to Production with given copy flow deadlines to avoid delays in
    circulation.
  • Ensure design styles and policies are
    followed.
  • Develop new and creative ideas and concepts.
  • Develop design briefs by gathering
    information and data through research
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the
    Design Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant should hold a Degree or Diploma
    in Commercial Industrial Art & Design from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a busy
    deadline-driver working environment with bias in design communication.
  • Detailed knowledge of the latest design
    software; Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign),
    CorelDraw and hardware like Apple macs.
  • Possess the ability to demonstrate concepts,
    design and implement client-based projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimum
    supervision and work long hours.
  • Exceptional creative flair, accuracy &
    attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of service to internal &
    external clients and open to feedback.
  • Professional approach to time, costs and
    deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication
    skills.
