About
UNDP REDD Programme:
The UN-REDD
Programme is the United Nations collaborative initiative on Reducing Emissions
from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD) in developing countries. The
Programme was launched in 2008 and builds on the convening role and technical
expertise of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO),
the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations
Environment Programme (UNEP). The UN-REDD Programme supports nationally-led
REDD+ processes and promotes the informed and meaningful involvement of all
stakeholders, including Indigenous Peoples and other forest-dependent
communities, in national and international REDD+ implementation. 
The Programme
supports national REDD+ readiness efforts in 56 partner countries, spanning
Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, in two ways: (i) direct support to the
design and implementation of UN-REDD National Programmes; and (ii)
complementary support to national REDD+ action through common approaches,
analyses, methodologies, tools, data and best practices developed through the
UN-REDD Global Programme.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Supports formulation of strategies and
implementation of the UN REDD Programme Action Plan focusing on achievement of
the following results:-
·        
In charge of collection, analysis and presentation
of background information for preparation of REDD+ strategy,
·        
Collation of background information for
formulation of draft project documents & policy briefs, work plans, and
budgets.
2. Provides effective support to
management of the UN-REDD Programme focusing on the achievement of the
following results:-
·        
Support the UN REDD+ Technical Advisor and
National Consultant, National REDD+ Secretariat and report to UNDP CO, Regional
UNDP UN-REDD and National REDD+ Secretariat among others.
·        
Ensure timely consolidation of reports prepared
and submitted by all partners including technical, financial, study
tour/fellowship reports.
·        
Facilitate coordination and other support for
consultants hired for the project, and for any relevant UN-REDD missions
directly related to the project.
·        
Provision of guidance to the partners on routine
implementation of projects including their reporting.
·        
Presentation of information for audit of projects
and supports implementation of audit recommendations.
3. Provides administrative support to the
UN-REDD Programme Unit focusing on achievement of the following results:-
·        
Review of projects Financial Reports; preparation
of basic financials for the Programme.
·        
Maintenance of the internal expenditures control
system which ensures that vouchers processed are matched and completed;
transactions are correctly recorded and filed.
·        
Work closely with local experts and consultants on
assigned tasks.
·        
Manage and monitor delivery of outputs by local
consultants, experts and institutions who work for the project in line with
Terms of Reference.
·        
Coordinate between the CTA, TA, national
consultant, and local experts, regarding all the necessary training, templates,
methodologies and support to undertake their data collection functions.
·        
In charge of the preparation of requisitions for
the Programme.  
4. Administrative and financial support
to REDD+ Secretariat
·        
Support REDD+ Secretariat in preparation of
projects Financial Reports; preparation of basic financials for the Programme.
·        
Provide support to the REDD+ Secretariat in the
Logistic and administrative day-to-day tasks.
·        
Support the REDD+ Secretariat in the establishment
of systems to manage and monitor delivery of outputs by local consultants,
experts and institutions who work for the project in line with Terms of
Reference.
·        
Support REDD+ Secretariat in regarding all the
necessary training, templates, methodologies and support to undertake their
data collection functions.
5. Ensures facilitation of knowledge
building and knowledge sharing on UN-REDD+ focusing on achievement of the
following results:-
·        
Organization logistics linked to trainings &
workshops for stakeholders of the Programme.
·        
Synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices in
the Programme.
·        
Sound contributions to knowledge networks and
communities of practice.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate for the United Nations REDD
National Technical Assistant career opportunity should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Business and Administration, environmental studies, natural science,
or related qualification from a recognized University with Expertise in
planning, management, administration, logistic and report writing.
·        
At least two years’ experience in a relevant field
such as planning, management and administration;
·        
Detailed working knowledge and experience in
implementation of projects with similar administrative and financial
arrangements;
·        
Strong knowledge / experience in results-based
management and results-oriented approach to project implementation;
·        
Excellent inter-personal skills, communication,
networking and team-building skills;
·        
Excellent oral and written skills, with analytic
capacity and ability to synthesize project outputs and relevant findings
·        
Results driven, ability to work under pressure and
to meet strict deadlines; remains calm and in control under pressure.
