About

The Makerere
University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV research program
that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding
between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation for Advancement
of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The primary purpose of MUWRP is to
develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate disease threats of
public health importance to Uganda. Activities include; vaccine development and
building of vaccine testing capability in Uganda, conducting of epidemiological
and basic research and provision of HIV Treatment, care and support in Kayunga,
Mukono and Buvuma Districts.
Job
Summary:
  The TB Program Coordinator will
offer support to the MUWRP PEPFAR program to strengthen district systems to
implement HIV/TB programs as guided by the MoH/NTLP.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Work closely with the District TB focal person to
support integration of HIV/TB services.
·        
Work in liaison with the clinical teams in MUWRP
supported facilities to implement the National TB guidelines and SOPs for
HIV/TB co- management
·        
Conduct regular site visits to facilities;
offering supervision and mentorship to clinical teams on clinical management of
HIV/TB co infected adults and children and implementation of TB prevention
activities
·        
Build and strengthen linkages within clinics to
increase TB case detection and management
·        
Conduct routine performance audits and provide
feedback reports to facilities
·        
Work closely with TB focal persons to improve
capacity for TB detection and management in the MUWRP supported districts.
·        
Develop regular work-plans and report on
accomplishments of tasks
·        
Regularly analyze TB program data to guide
interventions that improve quality of care and identify gaps.
·        
Work closely with the Officer in charge of
logistics and medical supplies, identify logistics and supplies required to
facilitate implementation of HIV/TB integrated activities
·        
Work closely with the M&E Officer, ensure that
all TB M&E tools are completed accurately, completely and in real time to
facilitate program reporting and monitoring.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The applicants for the TB Program Coordinator
vacancy should hold a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community health
·        
Registered with the Dental and Medical
Practitioners Council
·        
A minimum of three years’ experience with TB/HIV
programs.
·        
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
·        
Experienced at capacity building and facilitating
training and mentoring
·        
Ability to reside in Kayunga, Mukono and Buvuma
Islands.
·        
Ability to travel on water.
