About UNRA:
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was
established by an Act of Parliament; The Uganda National Authority Act, No.
15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on 1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to develop and
maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general roads
policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.

Job Summary: The
ICT Officer – Database Administration will be in charge of the design and

the day today management of the organisational databases and ensuring that

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In charge of the design database
structures and associated models to support the information needs of
the organization; - Administer the database
configurations, security, schema and objects ensuring compliance
against agreed ICT standards and guidelines; - Perform database software
installations and upgrades to maintain currency with supported
environments; - Offer second level technical support
to minimize the impact of database related service outages; - Escalate unresolved system issues
to appropriate vendors and manage these in accordance with the agreed
service level agreements to minimize service downtime; - Respond to audit reports and
implement agreed recommendations within specified time frames; - Develop risk matrix and put in
place risk mitigation measures in database administration at UNRA; - Actively participate in planning,
budgeting and reporting in line with departmental guidelines and
targets. - Perform any other duties as
assigned by the Manager Databases and Applications.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The applicant for the UNRA ICT
Officer – Database Administration vacancy should hold an Honors degree
in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Communication
Technology or any other relevant courses from a recognized University; - Possession of IT Database Certifications
like MCDBA, Oracle is an added advantage. - At least three years’ experience
in software development in a large organization. - Excellent interpersonal,
particularly staff/management relations, oral and - written communication skills;
- Ability to work and produce
accurate results in an environment with multiple and challenging
tasks; - Analytical and problem solving
techniques; - Excellent customer service;
- High level of Integrity.
