The Makerere
University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV research program
that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding
between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation for Advancement
of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The primary purpose of MUWRP is to
develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate disease threats of
public health importance to Uganda. Activities include; vaccine development and
building of vaccine testing capability in Uganda, conducting of epidemiological
and basic research and provision of HIV Treatment, care and support in Kayunga,
Mukono and Buvuma Districts.
Job
Summary:
The  Gender & Youth Program
Coordinator will offer technical assistance to the MUWRP PEPFAR program in developing
and adopting innovative and evidence based interventions that support service
delivery to youth and adolescents and address gender issues and imbalances that
affect service delivery.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Manage the planning, implementation, and
evaluation of all gender and Adolescent and Young Adult-related activities in
compliance with Ministry of Health, 
Ministry of Gender, Labor & Social Development and PEPFAR guidelines
policies and procedures.
·        
Leverage resources from the other complementary
programs to support implementation of the Adolescent Girl and Young Women
program.
·        
Ensure integration of gender and Adolescent and
Young Adults -friendly services in planning and implementation of all MUWRP HIV
program activities
·        
Coordinate and monitor performance of NGOs /CBOs  supporting implementation of adolescent girls
and young women program
·        
Create awareness and generate demand for the
Adolescent & Young Adults HIV prevention and care services with a special
focus on adolescent girls and young women.
·        
Support collection, analysis and validation of
baseline and routine program data to support implementation and routine program
monitoring.
·        
Support the integration of HIV prevention
programming into school programs.
·        
Work closely with the Ministry of Gender, Labor
& Social Development and relevant district based structures to support
monitoring and reporting of gender and Adolescents and Young Adults programs
·        
Actively promote the understanding of gender
issues and imbalances and ensure that gender concerns are mainstreamed in all
Adolescents & Young Adults programs.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate for the Gender & Youth
Program Coordinator vacancy should hold a degree in Social Work and Social
Administration, Social Sciences, or any other related field
·        
Possession of a Post-graduate level training in
gender studies or behavioral sciences
·        
A minimum of two years’ experience in coordination
of Adolescent and Young Adult Health (AYA) programs
·        
Working knowledge of Adolescent Sexual
Reproductive Health Policies and strategies
·        
Ability reside in Kayunga and to travel on water
·        
Ability to frequently travel to the MUWRP PEPFAR
supported sites in Kayunga, Mukono and Buvuma Islands
