Job Summary: The Project Officer – Gender Based Violence will
mainly ensure the effective and efficient roll out planned of Gender Based Violence
activities in the selected sub-counties through day to day supervision,
coordination and mentorship of the relevant community structures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensures that cases of the survivors are followed
    closely and are reported immediately.
  • Manages Gender Based Violence activities in
    the camps/ sub counties.
  • Mentors and manages community outreach teams,
    service providers, and traditional protection structures and youth
    activities.
  • Build and strengthen effective collaborative
    relationships with the district and lower local government structures for
    smooth project implementation.
  • Effectively networks and links with different
    service providers to ensure timely and quality GBV prevention and response
    services to the community members.
  • Organizes and attends consultative meetings
    with other NGOs, CBS and service providers in accordance with ChildFund
    policy and guidelines.
  • Requests for funds on behalf of survivors in
    line with the documentation policy of funds regard survivors.
  • Follows up each case of Gender Based Violence
    systematically to its logical conclusion by involving stakeholders,
    advocacy and law enforcement authorities where necessary.
  • Makes field visits and trains the service
    providers on how to handle survivors of Gender Based Violence in the
    camps.
  • Makes Gender Based Violence follow ups
    regularly to ensure that proper methods are used.
  • Actively encourage youth to form peer groups
    in the training of GBV through peer education clubs in schools.
  • Creates awareness to the community together
    with the outreach teams.
  • Mentors service providers including
    counselors and investigators to track each case from the time violence is
    committed until the culprit is identified.
  • Provides counseling to minor cases.
  • Coordinates and conducts assessments for the
    survivors in order to establish the progress towards their recovery.
  • Works closely with camp leader, host local
    community authorities, camp-based women groups, religious leaders,
    community groups, health care workers, NGOs and others
  • Prepares and submits detailed weekly reports
    on GBV activities and presents to Protection Officers
  • Ensures effective communication amongst the Service
    providers in the camps.
  • Performs any other duties that may from time
    to time be assigned by the immediate supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Adult and Community Education,
    Development Studies.
  • Additional qualification in Project Management
    will be an added advantage.
  • Possession of a certificate in counselling
    skills.
  • Possession of a Certificate in Customer Care
    is an added advantage.
  • At least two years of post-qualification
    experience in a similar position in a Child based institution.
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to ride motorcycle.
