Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.
monitoring the implementation of the development/rehabilitation of road projects.
This will involve monitoring of the projects works, ensuring environmental and
social safeguards are mainstreamed, timely progress reporting and participation
in the preparation of closure report detailing assets to be handed over, as
built drawings, etc. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for
overseeing quality control, health and safety matters, and traffic management
and also participate in taking of measurement of works.
- Actively monitor and supervise
development/rehabilitation of roads in line with standards and
specifications and project plans; - Conduct quality management and confirmation
of measurements of the executed works in line with bills of quantities,
standards, and specifications; - Actively monitor project timelines for
development/road rehabilitation in line with the approved work program; - Prepare and submit progress reports on development/rehabilitation
projects in line with performance agreements; - Actively monitor financial progress of the
project(s) managed in line with contract financing agreements; - Implement risk matrix put in place and risk
mitigation measures of management of road projects. - Perform any other duties as assigned by the Resident
Engineer
- The applicant for the UNRA Inspector of Works
job vacancy should hold an Honors Degree in Civil Engineering or
Construction Management; - At least two years’ experience in supervision
of road development/rehabilitation projects. - High degree of integrity;
- Excellent track record of outstanding
performance; - Computer literacy skills
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relation skills - Ability to deliver accurate results in a
timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
