Assistant
Local Governments’ Association (ULGA) is an Association for Local Governments
in Uganda that was formed in 1994 with the mandate to unite Local Governments,
and provide them with a forum through which to come together and give each
other support and guidance to make common positions on key issues that affect
Local Governance. ULGA carries out this mandate through lobbying, advocacy and
representation of Local Governments at local, National and International fora.
Its ultimate goal is to promote and build Democratic and Accountable Local
Governments capable of delivering Efficient and Sustainable Public Services to
the people of Uganda. Our current strategic focus is in the areas of lobbying
and advocacy; institutional strengthening; increasing services to members and
facilitating local economic development.

provides clerical, secretarial and administrative support to other employees
working in the office.
Ensure the offices are clean:
Assess the cleanliness and hygiene situation of the
establishment and detect current and potential problems.
Carry out common household tasks to maintain a clean
work place by sweeping floors, cleaning walls, corridors and windows and
throwing the trash to the suitable place.
Cleans restrooms and other places in the building.
Perform simple security duties:
Locking doors and closing windows
Opening the office
Identify anything suspicious and report to the line
manager
Ensure that refreshments’ are available to the staffs
Prepare and serve tea to staff
Clean the utensils after use
Perform secretarial work:
Support in typing some work
Responsible for photocopy documents
In charge of organising files or documents
Initiating simple requests: Making requests for items like sugar, milk, cleaning
materials, dusters.
Organising Training Events:
Arranging the room for workshops
Ensure seats are enough for the participants
Ensure all training materials are in place and
conducive for the participants
Reporting:
Compile a report on all the activities under his/her
supervision
Report any suspicious person to the relevant office
Regularly report any issue that may need immediate
attention for example faulty line
The ideal candidate should hold an “O” or “A” Level
High School Certificate or equivalent
Business college training an advantage
Prior office experience may be requested but this
can also be entry level position
Advanced computer skills including MS Office or
equivalent
At least two years’ experience in general office
management,
Prior experience in providing administrative and
support services
Past exposure and experience of working in
multi-cultural environment Essential Knowledge
Basic knowledge of Customer relations
Smartness and reflects the image of the organisation
Working knowledge and understanding of
Administration and general Office practice
Detailed knowledge and understanding of Office
