About UNRA:
The
Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008.  The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.
Job Summary: The Financial Auditor will mainly be responsible
for the monitoring and evaluating risks, governance and internal processes. The
incumbent will also provide consulting service, advising management on how to
improve internal controls in the systems and processes. The job holder will be
responsible for adding value and improve the Authority’s operations by bringing
a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management,
control, and governance processes. In addition the Auditor will be responsible for
safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verifying the existence of such
assets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Regularly review and verify the reliability
    and integrity of financial information in assigned auditable areas;
  • Keenly review the financial systems to ensure
    compliance with policies, budgets, plans, procedures, laws, and
    regulations;
  • In charge of reviewing and verification of UNRA
    assets register;
  • Identify risks and carry out risk assessment
    in the finance audit unit;
  • Provide support in the investigation team
    with relevant analyses of financial data and obtaining evidence of
    financial nature.
  • Coordinate external audits and follow up on
    implementation of recommendations of external auditors.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head
    Financial Audit.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant for the UNRA Financial Auditor job
    vacancy should hold an Honors Degree in Commerce, Business Administration,
    Finance or any other relevant courses from a recognized University;
  • Possession of professional accounting
    qualifications like ACCA, CPA or any other is mandatory.
  • Membership of the Institute of Certified Public
    Accountant of Uganda (ICPAU) and Institute of Internal Auditors is a must;
  • Possession of any other post graduate
    qualifications in the relevant field are an added advantage;
  • At least three years of auditing experience
    in a large organization;
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of
    International accounting and auditing standards.
  • High level of integrity;
  • Proven track record of outstanding
    performance;
  • Good team player
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
    skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, particularly
    staff/management relations;
  • Ability to deliver accurate results in a
    timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks
