participate in the scheduling of maintaining ferry maintenance records,
ensuring that ferries are in proper working order in a timely and efficient manner.
In addition the mechanic will be responsible for completing daily maintenance
and repair logs, maintaining and securing work tools, examining ferries to
determine extent of damage or malfunctions and performing routine and scheduled
maintenance services for all ferries and their component parts in line with set
guidelines and procedures.
- Conduct routine diagnosis/ assessment of
ferries using the standard checklist; - Inspect, lubricate, and perform emergency
repairs to railings, pontoons, and - winches to ensure safe operation of ferry;
- Maintain a mechanical repair log and account
for spares/lubricants; - Carry out preventative and predictive
maintenance on ferries; - Maintain and secure work tools;
- Clean and maintain work area;
- Examine ferries for malfunctions.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Ferry

vacancy should hold an Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering; - Possession of a Part-2 Certificate in Motor
Vehicle Mechanics will be an added advantage. - At least three years’ experience in the
maintenance of mechanical or automotive systems. - Previous experience in Marine or Ferries
maintenance will be an added advantage; - High level of integrity;
- Excellent track record of outstanding
performance; - Proven ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent oral and written communication
skills; - Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relation skills - Ability to deliver accurate results in a timely
manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
