Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH)
and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the
organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host
communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda,
Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek
to bridge relief to development.
UNHCR Project:
Help Uganda (AAH Uganda) has been receiving funding from the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to implement programmes in the Districts
of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala.
Summary: The Water Technician will be tasked with the installations, maintenance
and protection of all water sources within the specified areas of
responsibility and undertake water quality analysis and advice on the fit for
consumption in line with AAH and donor guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, operate, inspect and perform preventive
and corrective maintenance on water pumps and water purification equipment
Carry out and evaluate water surveys in
collaboration with the PO WASH
Plan, install, repair and maintain water points
and all plumbing structures
Carry out periodic water testing to determine
acidity and perform corrective measures
Offer technical support in the installation of
water and sewer lines
Undertake mapping for water locations and log jobs
that are completed
In charge of the capacity build community pump
operators through organized field trainings
Carry out plumbing works on water systems.
Responsible for the design and construct water and
sanitation systems.
Carry out water quality analysis and train
community members in water quality monitoring
In charge of training and capacity build local
community in maintenance of water and sanitation sites such as wells and
latrines.
Implement measures aimed at protecting water
sources within area of responsibility.
Skills and Experience:
The applicant for the UNHCR AAH Water Technician job
opportunity should hold a Diploma in Water Engineering, Water and Sanitation
management or a related field from a recognized institution
A minimum of two years’ experience in similar or
higher position.
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
Excellent command of both written and spoken
English
Patient, understanding and of a pleasant character
Computer literacy skills with ability to use
Microsoft Office
Excellent management skills
Ability to capacity build and develop others
Ability to mobilize different audiences
