Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;
The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on
1st July 2008. The mandate of UNRA is to
develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general
roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.

Job Summary: The Legal Officer – Litigation will provide and
monitor UNRA’s litigation services in courts of Judicature, tribunals,
arbitrations and in any cases/negotiations arising from the implementation of
the Authority’s work in line with the relevant laws; implement the departmental
work plans, interpret and compile policy documents and rulings in line with the
Departmental Guidelines and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represent UNRA in Courts of Law, tribunals
and other Judicial bodies in line with the departmental guidelines,
procedures and the law; - Regularly respond to audit reports and
implement agreed recommendations; - Conduct a risk assessment on all assigned
cases and propose mitigation measures; - Oversight of litigation information in line
with approved guidelines; - Manage and develop other staff in the unit in
line with the Human Resource Policies Manual; - Carry out any other allocated assignments
from time to time by the Senior Legal Officer – Litigation
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the UNRA Legal Officer –
Litigation vacancy should hold an Honors’ Degree in Law from a recognized
University; - The applicant must be an advocate of the High
Court of Uganda with a valid practicing certificate; - Possession of a Post Graduate qualification
is an added advantage; - At least two years’ experience in handling
litigation issues/matters; - Prior exposure and experience in land and
commercial cases will be an added advantage; - Demonstrated working experience in dealing
with diverse professions. - Computer literacy skills
- High degree of integrity;
- Possess good court advocacy skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a
team; - Excellent interpersonal, particularly
staff/management relation skills - Excellent oral and written communication
skills; - Strategic thinking and ability to work and
produce accurate results in an environment with multiple and challenging
tasks.
