USAID’s
Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET III) is the world’s premier
provider of high quality food security analysis and early warning. Created in
response to the 1984 famines in East and West Africa, this $200 million,
five-year activity (2012-2016) aims to collaborate with international,
regional, and national partners to provide timely and rigorous early warning
and analysis of potential, emerging, and/or evolving food security issues in
order to inform appropriate humanitarian response. The project currently covers
31 countries, with plans to expand over the coming five-year phase.

Job Summary: The Driver will be tasked with driving and
maintaining the project vehicle. The driver will report to the Office
Manager/Accountant who is responsible for coordinating the driver’s assignments
and supervising the driver’s work.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive and maintain the project vehicle.
- As assigned and/or preapproved by the driver’s
supervisor, drive assigned project vehicle daily, including on scheduled
field trips, project- related trips within Kampala and other driving
assignments as required. - Clean assigned vehicle
- Regularly check assigned vehicle weekly to
ensure that it is operational and safe to drive. At least on a weekly
basis, check the oil, radiator, fan belt, brake fluid, wipers, tires,
lights, and signals. - The Driver will also initiate and supervise
any repairs required on assigned vehicles with supervisor’s approval. - Initiate and supervise routine periodic
maintenance of assigned project vehicles, including oil and filter
changes, tune-ups, and professional cleaning by high-pressure hose based
on the manufacturer’s instructions on optimum maintenance requirements. - Fulfill project reporting requirements and
maintain records on vehicle routing and vehicle condition. - Ensure passenger safety by obeying traffic
laws, driving carefully, and ensuring each person in the vehicle wears a
seatbelt
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should hold relevant
qualifications to perform the aforementioned tasks - Possess
excellent interpersonal skills - Good team player
- Present a professional demeanor and exercise
professional judgment - Proven ability to prioritize work
assignments; capable of making decisions which will foster timely work
completion - Excellent and demonstrated organizational
skills - Demonstrated ability to perform well with
minimal supervision - Demonstrate leadership, integrity and
versatility
