Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH)
and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the
organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host
communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda,
Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek
to bridge relief to development.
UNHCR Project:
Help Uganda (AAH Uganda) has been receiving funding from the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to implement programmes in the Districts
of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala.
Summary: The Clinical Officer will conduct consultations in OPD and Inpatients
services, timely referrals, responsible for supervision of health services in
the health facility, gives on job training and support supervision to
subordinates in the facility, ensure the community participate and get involved
in community based health care activities, plan, implement, monitor and
evaluate Primary Health Care delivery in the health facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The job holder will provide 24 hour on-call
services to the health facility and organize/recommend patients for referral
Conduct out-patient assessment, diagnosis, prescribe
treatment and or recommend referral of more complex cases
Conduct OPD ward rounds, assess patient conditions
and recommend further course of medical action to the Medical Doctor.
Compile and submit weekly, monthly (HMIS) and
quarterly reports in line with project and AAH reporting guidelines.
Mentor and supervise the performance of the direct
reports, mentor and coach of junior staffs in the health facilities in line
with AAH Human Resource policy and guidelines.
Plan and implement community health activities
including outreaches, home visits and school health programmes and participate
in community mobilization and sensitization on curative and preventive health
services.
Diagnose, treat and manage patients, and
participate in investigation and control of disease outbreaks in the community.
Regularly monitor the management of pharmaceutical
supplies including storage and dispensing in line with generally accepted
prescription practices.
Actively monitor and review the implementation of
safety practice standards in the health facility in regard to the control and
prevention of infections in the facilities.
Skills and Experience:
The applicant for the UNHCR AAH Clinical Officer employment
opportunity should hold a Diploma in Medical Services or served as a Clinical
Officer from a recognized institution
Additional qualification in business
management/medical institution management
A minimum of three years’ experience in similar or
higher position.
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
Excellent command of both written and spoken
English
Patient, understanding and of a pleasant character
Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft
Office
Excellent management skills
Able to capacity build and develop others
Ability to mobilize different audiences
