Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH)
and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the
organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host
communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda,
Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek
to bridge relief to development.
About
UNHCR Project:
Action Africa
Help Uganda (AAH Uganda) has been receiving funding from the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to implement programmes in the Districts
of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
The Assistant Project Officer WASH will offer technical
support to Water Technician, and Sanitation and Hygiene Assistants in the implementation
of project activities including carrying out community mobilization and in hygiene
awareness and promotion in line with AAH Uganda and donor guidelines.
·        
Work closely with the Water Technician to carry
out a technical assessment of water systems in target locations to establish
specific aspects of repair, rehabilitation and prepare strategies for
corrective action including rehabilitation and development of new sources as
need demand in line with AAH and donor guidelines.
·        
Develop regular water quality monitoring schedules
and write records for water quality surveillance activities for all water
points in the target locations monthly in line with AAH and donor guidelines.
·        
Develop inter-sector work plans in collaboration
with other sector to promote sharing of knowledge and resources in line with
WASH guidelines and AAH Uganda policy.
·        
Manage the activities of Community based WASH
structures through periodic field visits, performance appraisal and carry out
needs assessment for training programmes in line with AAH Uganda HR policy and donor
guidelines.
·        
The incumbent will collect data for the
compilation of narrative and technical reports of WASH project activities in
line with project objectives and AAH reporting guidelines.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The applicant for the UNHCR AAH Assistant Project
Officer WASH employment vacancy should hold an Ordinary Diploma in Water
Engineering, Public Health Engineering, or Environmental Health Science Studies,
Hydrology or Water Resources Development.
·        
Possession of a Certificate in project planning
and management, M&E or its equivalent.
·        
At least two years of progressively relevant
professional working experience in WASH related activities. One year of this experience
should be with an international humanitarian organization dealing with large scale
emergencies or displaced/refugee situations and, should be directly relevant to
the current position.
·        
Applied knowledge in programme management, project
formulation, programme cycles and reporting standards.
·        
The applicant must have expertise in planning,
formulation, implementation, monitoring and reporting on humanitarian
operations.
·        
Proven exposure and experience in organising and
conducting training activities and information campaigns in the WASH related issues.
·        
Proven technical expertise in area of WASH
assessment including surveys, programme implementation, monitoring and
evaluation, and coordination is required.
·        
Proficiency in basic computer software such as MS
Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, water modeling software, GIS.
·        
Demonstrated ability to ride motorcycle, with a
valid rider permit
·        
Proficiency in the languages spoken in the region
(Kiswahili, Kinyabwisha, Kinyarwanda, Runyakitara)
·        
Excellent knowledge of English (written/ oral/
comprehension).
