Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa Hilfe e. V (AAH)
and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders in 2003 moved the
organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with refugees, host
communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in Kenya, Uganda,
Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of sectors that seek
to bridge relief to development.
UNHCR Project:
Help Uganda (AAH Uganda) has been receiving funding from the United Nations
High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to implement programmes in the Districts
of Hoima (Kyangwali Refugee Settlement), Adjumani District and Kampala.
Summary: The Mechanic will be in charge of checking the mechanical conditions
of AAH- I vehiclec and equipment regularly to ensure programme activities run
smoothly, vehicles are clean and in good order always in line with AAH-I
policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a vehicle maintenance program/plan
for all field vehicles in line with set vehicle operational guidelines.
The Mechanic will diagnose problems, repair and
perform general maintenance on all equipment and vehicles including adjustments
of engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and
clutches on petrol and diesel equipment:
Regularly inspect and test vehicles to ensure
safety, report irregularities and equipment abuse to the transportation supervisor
(logistics and stores officer).
Prepare and submit annual workshop equipment
inventory reports in line with reporting guidelines.
Tune up engines, ignition parts, clean and adjust
carburettors, perform minor body repairs and respond to breakdowns.
Carry out preventative maintenance and make
inspections of vehicles for proper working order and safe operation.
Prepare and submit vehicle repair/maintenance
monthly reports in line with the AAH-I Vehicle Policy.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from
time to time
Skills and Experience:
The applicants for the UNHCR AAH Mechanics careers
should hold be Mechanics with Grade II and an Ordinary level certificate
Hold a Certificate level 4 in motor vehicle/craft
technician course
A minimum of four years’ experience in a busy
motor vehicle workshop
Possess a clean national driver’s license
Impeccable level of integrity
Good report writing skills
Moderate computer skills
