University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV research program
that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding
between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation for Advancement
of Military Medicine Inc. of USA (HJF). The primary purpose of MUWRP is to
develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate disease threats of
public health importance to Uganda. Activities include; vaccine development and
building of vaccine testing capability in Uganda, conducting of epidemiological
and basic research and provision of HIV Treatment, care and support in Kayunga,
Mukono and Buvuma Districts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive project vehicle/s to carry out authorized
project’s activities.
The Drivers will deliver and or collect project
materials, documents and correspondences to/from various locations, including
upcountry locations/field offices.
Receive/take project visitors at/to the airport
whenever they travel and ensure they are safely transported to their
destinations.
They will be tasked with keeping a vehicle log
book indicating authorized users of the project vehicle, mileage, fuel
consumption and such other details of trips undertaken as may be required.
Work closely with the administrator, to ensure
that license, parking stickers, insurance and all other requirements by any
authority are fulfilled and are up to date at all times.
Ensure the project vehicle is properly cleaned,
serviced and maintained in an excellent condition at all times.
Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold an “O”
level certificate
Additional training in Motor Vehicle Mechanics is
an added advantage
Possess a clean driving permit.
A minimum of five years of accident free driving.
Previous experience in reputable organizations,
supported by credible references.
Working knowledge of applicable Ugandan traffic
laws and regulations
Ability to work effectively with other employees
Familiarity and ability to do light vehicle and
building maintenance (e.g. tires/light bulbs, wind shield wipers, oil changes)
Ability to maintain accurate, complete and
confidential records
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in
writing
Willingness to put extra time and effort when
required
