About Oakwood Interns Program:
The Oakwood Interns Program was founded in
2015 to bridge the gap between young professionals and employers in Uganda.
The mission of the Oakwood Internship program is to provide a platform
through which educated youths can attain professional skills and relevant
work experience in order to competently and confidently enter the formal job
market and self-employment.  Our
overall goal is to enhance youth employability in Uganda through strategic
trainee placements that match the knowledge, skills and passions of our
youth members.   Oakwood works in
partnership with multiple program employers in Uganda in order to place
educated youths into suitable internships, graduate trainee positions and
entry level positions within those companies.  They would like to recruit for a valuable
client, A leading food processing company located in Kampala.
Job Summary: The Junior
Sales Representatives will support the Oakwood program Employers. The Junior
Sales Representative will carry out sales and marketing services in the
areas of Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja, Masaka, Hoima and Mbarara.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Under the direction of Head Sales and
Marketing, the personnel will be required to:
  • Carry out sales drives to
    promote, and sell company products to existing and competitive
    customers based on an identified strategic plan.
  • Coordinate customer activities at
    all assigned venues and events.
  • Render support in the management
    of consignment inventory.
  • Attend and participate in sales
    meetings, training programs, and public events as directed.
  • Maintain and submit up-to-date
    customer record books and other records in accordance with
    instructions of the Head Sales and Marketing.
  • Identify selling opportunities
    and work closely with the Head Sales and Marketing to increase sales
    in their respective accounts.
  • Demonstrate understanding of
    range of products, how they are made, and how they can be accessed.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:  
  • The ideal candidate for the
    Junior Sales Representatives should at least hold an A’ Level
    Certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
    (confident and comfortable when interacting with people)
  • Excellent communication skills
    (verbal and non-verbal) in English. It is an added bonus if you can
    speak local languages commonly spoken in Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja,
    Masaka, Hoima and Mbarara. 
  • Good time keeping skills (reports
    to work on time, and completes tasks on time)
  • Capacity to work under minimum
    supervision, and
  • Honesty
  • Good team ethic
NB: The
positions will be held for a one month probation period subject to
extension of contract based on personnel’s performance.

In order to become eligible for the position
of Sales Representatives; All interested applicants are required to
participate in a three day Foundation Training on Work Ethic and a two day
aptitude and psychometric assessment to be held 2 – 6th February 2016 in
Kampala. This is required by the program to not only identify the ‘out of
school’/ natural competence of each applicant, but also to strengthen the
professional and soft skills in order to ease their entry into the job
market.  The best performing
applicants from the training and assessment will be shortlisted and contacted
by the Oakwood Team for immediate job placement.
