Manager
Central and Eastern Africa (OHCEA) is a University network of Schools of Public
Health and Schools of Veterinary that are located in seven countries namely;
Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and
Uganda with the regional secretariat located in Kampala Uganda, at the Makerere
University School of Public Health Annex in Kololo.
a five-year sub award for implementation of activities funded through
University of Minnesota from USAID for the implementation of the One Health
Workforce Project (OHW). This project will facilitate Government Led,
University Driven, Network Supported Coordination and collaboration across all
levels of the human and animal health sectors essential to meet the Global
Health Security Agenda (GHSA) vision for “a world safe and secure from global
health threats posed by infectious diseases.”
The job holder will coordinate and provide strategic
and policy guidance to the Organization
Prepare and interpret the OHCEA strategic and annual
plans and ensure they are operational
Provide leadership and functionally support
programme management and capacity development
Identify programming gaps and develop strategies to
address them
Manage timely dissemination of programme reports to
donors and stakeholders
Study and guide the teams on all programme, research
and systems strengthening
Actively monitor effective utilization of data from
M & E for planning, programming and capacity development aspects
Develop and seek approval of management before
submission of fundable proposals to support programme management and capacity
development
Carry out team building, coaching, mentoring and
performance appraisals
Regularly review scientific papers, develop and
guide use of evidence based approaches as the Organization
Experience:
The applicant should preferably hold a Master’s
Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology or Veterinary Medicine.
Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in Project
Planning & Management
Evidence of training in Leadership & Management
Evidence of training in Monitoring & Evaluation
At least five years’ experience in a management
positions with experience in the aforementioned duties and responsibilities
Proposal writing skills
Evidence of laboratory training is an added advantage
All candidates MUST be willing to work and live in
Uganda with frequent travels within the region.
