Growers Tea Factory
Manager
public limited company owned by small holder tea growers and it was
incorporated in 1995. It is located in western Uganda Kabarole district,
producing high quality tea for local and export market. It is one of the tea
factories formerly under Uganda Tea Growers Corporation (UTGC), established by
an Act of parliament on 17th February 1966.
Supervisor will oversee the factory’s operations, products and equipment to
ensure a safe, consistent, profitable and smooth running shift in line with
Business plan, relevant policies, National and international standards
Plan for withering space and activity
Plan for roller changing and processing schedules
Conduct process monitoring and hourly tea testing
Conduct worker deployments
Analyze moisture content of withered leaf hourly
Monitor the usage and consumption of resource inputs
e.g. firewood, water, food, overtime
Plan and monitor factory wash down
Plan for manpower and employee rotations
Actively monitor quality parameters
Regularly check the quality of tea being packed and
test the tea being dispatched
Coach subordinate staff and initiate in-house
training and identify suitable training programs for staff
Maintain employee discipline, manage and settle conflicts
and grievances in line with company policies and union terms and conditions
Monitor staff performance and productivity
Ensure the safety of staff is given priority and the
working environment is safe
Train workers in the factory on standards requirements
Ensure calibration of equipment
Perform tea tests for conformity to international
standards
Monitor and carryout checks on standards
implementation
Review factory records and verify green leaf quality
and quantity, made tea quality and quantity and the processing parameters
Conduct stock taking and provide the manager with
stock levels
Source for quotations and suppliers
Follow-up procurements and deliveries
Monitor stock levels and labour levels in the
processing section
Prepare budget inputs and submit to the head of
department
Approve requisitions made
Open and close shifts and follow company security,
hygiene and safety procedures.
Execute the shift plan.
Monitor raw and finished product quality before and
throughout the shift.
Ensures equipment is dean, safe and in good working
order.
Ensure compliance to all food safety procedures are
applied at all times
Follows up on the completion of planned maintenance
tasks
Completes daily basic equipment checks and makes
necessary time and temperature adjustments.
Collects information and completes appropriate
incident/ accident report records.
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree in Agriculture Engineering of Food science and Technology
A minimum of three years’ experience in a processing
industry specifically in the tea processing factory.
Working knowledge of; Tea processing, Machine
operations, Agronomy, Quality management and standards
Leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Good relationship management skills
Risk management skills
Analytical and problem solving skills
