member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), and its core
mandate is to promote high quality, high-impact and gender sensitive Sexual
& Reproductive Health and Rights information and services through capacity
building, specialized service delivery, issue specific advocacy and strategic
partnerships.
Summary: The Research
Coordinator will offer technical guidance and research support (quantitative
and qualitative) for all research projects in RHU with a focus on strengthening
institutional capacity in research.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Guide
all phases of the research-to-practice continuum, including developing research
agenda, budgeting, work plan development, developing and implementing the
research Monitoring and Evaluation, Reporting and Learning (MERL) system.
Establish
and coordinate research technical advisory groups, serving as a field manager
for research consultants/organizations/assistants and coordinating conference
abstract preparation.
The
incumbent will manage data collection, quality assurance, data management, data
analysis, reporting, utilization and dissemination in collaboration with
partners.
Actively
participate in study design; development, translation and pre-testing of
research tools, management of IRB submissions, conducting key informant/focus
group interviews, surveys, and in-depth interviews.
Coordinate
the recruitment of data collectors, research trainings and lead regular project
monitoring meetings.
Ensure
timely sharing and utilization of research findings for program
decision-making.
Technically
support the M&E unit in developing evaluation methodologies and conducting
evaluations.
Represent
the organisation in relevant forums, including meetings with project partners,
donors, and other stakeholders, and present findings to stakeholders and report
on project activities, as may be required
Develop
and implement research utilization strategies for the institution, and lead in
the research publications on behalf of RHU
Perform
any other professional duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Skills and Experience:
The
applicant should preferably hold a University degree in public health or
related social science field. Possession of an advanced degree i.e. Masters is
desired
A
minimum of five years’ experience in health research, including training and
management of research teams
Significant
experience regarding coordinating research, particularly in relation to health
and/ or social research.
Previous
experience in Qualitative data collection, particularly in health research
Previous
experience in conducting health and operations research with non-governmental
organizations (NGOs) is desired
Experience
in Qualitative data analysis, particularly in relation to health research
Pro-active
and problem-solving competencies
Good
written and oral communication skills
