established in 1983, with II campuses and teaching sites in 8 countries
including Uganda.
Summary: The Professor Research Capacity
Building will lead research capacity building development in Uganda and
positively impact the quality of nursing & midwifery care in developing
health care settings. Opportunity exists to build the teaching and research
capacity of local faculty and prepare graduates for a broad range of employment
contexts including rural and remote regions and the recently announced Aga Khan
University Hospital which will be built in Uganda.
Skills and Experience:
The applicant must hold a PhD and Masters
qualifications in nursing, midwifery and related fields with a proven tracked
record in research and academic scholarship.
Substantive academic leadership and management
experience
A proven record of research and publications
(minimum 50 peer-reviewed publications)
The successful applicant must be qualified to
attract research funding, conduct research and achieve scholarly publication in
nursing & midwifery and related fields.
Proven ability to mentor junior faculty and
building teaching & research capacity
A strong track record in designing and delivering
staff development workshops
Proven experience in PhD and higher degree
supervision
Applicants to the position should have the ability
and intent to pursue a research program of relevance to nursing & midwifery
in Uganda and East Africa along with the commitment to positively foster
research capacity among the local faculty and interested clinical partners.
H-index greater than 15
Cited publications greater than 200
Advanced competencies in nursing & midwifery
education and practice
Current registration or eligibility for
registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
Good interpersonal/communication skills
Competent user of word processing software
Sound organizational skills
Excellent collaborative capacity and interpersonal
skills
