The International Organization for
Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is the leading international
intergovernmental organization dealing with migration.  IOM works to help ensure the orderly and
humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration
issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems
and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees
and internally displaced people. The IOM, acting as implementing partner for
the European Commission, is seeking to recruit a number of local staff for
support functions assigned to the European Union Election Observation Mission
(EU EOM) in Uganda.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
The
IT Expert Assistant will mainly responsible for assisting the IT Expert in;
·        
Installing,
configuring the LAN equipment and software to full operational capacity;
·        
Preparing
and implementing all the necessary hardware/software configurations for full
operation as a top-level LAN including workstations, file servers etc.;
·        
Providing
day to day administration, operation and maintenance of the office network,
servers, as well as computers, including hardware and software;
·        
Carrying
out any other functions/tasks when required.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:  
·        
The ideal
candidate for the IOM IT Expert Assistant should preferably hold an IT degree
or appropriate higher education qualification
·        
A
minimum of three years’ experience (preferably with International Organizations
or NGOs in the related field).
·        
All candidates
should be non-partisan
·        
Excellent
command of English
·        
Excellent
analytical and drafting skills
·        
Computer
literacy i.e. familiar with MS Windows, Excel and Outlook.
·        
Willingness
and flexibility to work in an environment with an intensive workload
·        
Candidates
must be willing to work flexible hours and be able to perform under tight
deadlines.
·        
Fluency
in any other local language would be an asset.
