5 star hotels in Uganda; the hotel is part of a renowned Group of Hotels.
world, the role of HR manager is hot. Staff retention is crucial because
hospitality is such a people-orientated industry – from restaurants, to hotels,
to pubs to contract catering. It’s no surprise, then, that you’ll be expected
to nurture, and motivate the team to aid productivity; so the staff need to
know you and feel able to come to you with any situation. People passion is
core to this role. Your warm, cuddly status belies your expertise, however, all
heads of department will look to you for advice and guidance on people issues.
You will be responsible for the delivery of the training and development
programs to ensure highly effective training solutions are in place which
supports high performance and retention across the hotel. You will create,
deliver and evaluate engaging and innovative training and development
programmes and deliver creative solutions which supports a strong team culture
and commitment to exceptional guest service delivery. The other side of the
job, of course, is even tougher. For instance, you may need to make
redundancies when required. You could also be involved in standardising
policies and producing reports for business planning.
Getting involved in hands on creative training
In charge of recruitment and inducting new staff.
Management of reward and recognition programs for
different staff groups
Responsible for monitoring and implementing personal
development plans and appraisals for staff
Support and Communicating with departmental managers
Troubleshooting or mediating when there are staff
disputes
Ensuring that the company complies with employment
law
Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in Human Resource Management or Business Related Course with a Post
Graduate HR Qualification.
At least ten years’ experience in Human Resources
functions, at least five (5) years of which must be in a managerial position in
a 4 or 5-star hotel;
Excellent people/interpersonal skills.
Exceptional training and recruitment skills.
Good at counselling people and dealing with
disciplinary matters
Switched on to what talents are required to meet
business needs and trends
Strong background in employment law, employee relations, benefits,
wage and salary, accident prevention, and compliance to government regulations;
Demonstrated ability to Instill a guest service
attitude in all employees;
Ability to engage, inspire and motivate staff to harness
their full potential
Previous experience in training and developing
employees with limited education/experience;
Excellent organizational skills;
