Strengthening Partnerships, Results and Innovations in Nutrition Globally
(SPRING) Project is a five-year cooperative agreement funded by the United
States Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by JSI Research
& Training Institute Inc. with partners, Helen Keller International, the
Manoff Group, Save the Children, and the International Food Policy Research
Institute (IFPRI). SPRING’s overarching
vision is to reduce under-nutrition, prevent stunting, and work with women of
reproductive age and children aged 6-23 months on reducing anemia. SPRING aims
to strengthen country efforts to scale up high-impact nutrition practices and
policies to improve maternal and child nutrition outcomes.
Summary: The Procurement Assistant will
support the Procurement Officer in the provision of general Procurement support
in line with the organizational guidelines and procedures to the USAID SPRING
project.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In charge of compiling of the required information
for any proposed purchase. These include preparation and dispatch of requests for
quotations/proposals, LPOs, and any other document required by both SPRING and
vendors.
Actively participate in proposal/bid/quote
analysis processes. The analysis should aim at ensuring fairness, open competition
and value for money for the program;
Render support in soliciting quotations from
different suppliers as identified by the procurement committee.
Prepare and review the purchase orders (LPOs) and
preparation of recurrent purchase orders for contracting of services.
Ensure proper filling of all procurement documents
in accordance with the procurement guidelines.
In charge of preparing payments by organizing all
the supporting documents attached and ready for payment and following up to ensure
that they are paid in time.
Responsible for photocopying, scanning and giving
support in any other related procurement’s.
Update the inventory correctly and in a timely
manner ensuring that all assets are with JSI Tags
Carrying out a participants verifications for all
trainings which have taken place before forwarding them for payment.
Perform any other duties assigned by the
Procurement Officer.
Skills and Experience:
The prospective applicant should hold a Bachelors’
degree in Procurement and Logistics or related field.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent command of English language and ability
to work in multi-cultural settings.
Excellent interpersonal skills – able to build
good working relationships.
Ability to share knowledge and experience.
Remains calm, in control and good humored even
under pressure.
Responds positively to critical feedback and
differing points of views.
Demonstrates a willingness to learn with good
interpersonal / communication skills.
