Job Summary:  The IT Support Technician will provide the
necessary support to CIAT staff in the CIAT Uganda office located in Kawanda
Research Station in Kampala, Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Offer general support in software applications
including the Agresso ERP system for the Kawanda station in Kampala, Uganda,
following the IT unit’s standards and regulations.
·        
Regularly respond to Software and Hardware requests
and service orders from CIAT Uganda users using the Center’s helpdesk ticketing
software.
·        
Ensure that each staff has a functional/well
maintained computer acquired as per ClAT’s specifications and that CIAT staff
in Uganda adhere to ICT policies and procedures. Liaise with HQ IT on Assets
Management.
·        
Carry out necessary training and promotion of CIAT
software to staff, including the use of virtual workspaces such as the research
and administrative collaboration sites created in SharePoint.
·        
Keenly analyze, design, implement, maintain and
monitor technological solutions according to the requirements of CIAT and new
technology including availability, backup systems, security and information, in
accordance with international standards of data networks and communications as
well as good practices designed by the CGIAR Consortium.
·        
Work closely with 3rd party service providers
contracted by CIAT to ensure quality and timeliness.
·        
Render support in video conferencing as per user
requirements, following procedures established by the IT Unit.
·        
Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate for the CIAT IT Support
Technician should hold a Diploma in Information Technology, Software applications
or IT-related applications.
·        
A minimum of two years’ experience in helpdesk or
similar positions.
·        
Preferable knowledge in Microsoft products with certifications
in .NET. Possession of ITIL foundation would be an asset.
·        
Proven ability in problem solving and customer
satisfaction.
·        
Excellent written and oral communication skills
·        
Complete English proficiency, other languages, would
be an asset, particularly Spanish.
