The International Organization for
Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is the leading international
intergovernmental organization dealing with migration.  IOM works to help ensure the orderly and
humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on
migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration
problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including
refugees and internally displaced people. The IOM, acting as implementing
partner for the European Commission, is seeking to recruit a number of local
staff for support functions assigned to the European Union Election Observation
Mission (EU EOM) in Uganda.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
The Election Analyst Assistant will
support the Electoral Analyst of the EU EOM in performing the following tasks:
·        
Translating
and analyzing the election legislation and documents
·        
Organize
meetings with high ranking officials, interpret and take minutes of meetings,
·        
Gather
and analyze information
·        
Support
in the preparation of reports
·        
Perform
any other duties assigned by the Election Analyst.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The
ideal candidate for the IOM Election Assistant job vacancy should preferably
hold a Degree in Election Law, Administrative Law, Election laws, regulations
and procedures, voter registration and voter education or related field.
·        
A
minimum of three years’ experience (preferably with International Organizations
or NGOs in the related field).
·        
Prior
experience in the interpretation and application of Ugandan Election Laws.
·        
All candidates
should be non-partisan
·        
Excellent
command of both written and spoken English
·        
Fluency
in any other local language would be an asset.
·        
Excellent
analytical and drafting skills
·        
Computer
literacy i.e. familiar with MS Windows, Excel and Outlook.
·        
Willingness
and flexibility to work in an environment with an intensive workload
·        
Candidates
must be willing to work flexible hours and be able to perform under tight
deadlines.
