Johnass
International College of Health Sciences (JICHS), is a private institution,
destined to address the inadequacy of healthcare training in Uganda, the East
African region and beyond. The College is licensed by the Uganda Ministry of
Education and Sports to focus on training the Healthcare practitioners at
Certificate levels. In future, it will offer Degrees and Diploma programs. The
institution is at the moment composed of one School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Job Summary:  The Deputy Principal will oversee, evaluate,
monitor academic and administrative programmes and ensure their implementation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Deputizing for the Principal in his/her official
absence;
·        
In charge of the planning, preparing and organizing
materials for teaching students on specific courses of study;
·        
Assisting the principal and management in monitoring
academic and administrative Programmes which shall include among others,
coordination and preparation of departmental schemes of work, and teaching
plans by aggregating them into the College plan;
·        
Enforcing discipline by chairing the Students’
disciplinary Committee and forward reports to the Principal for further action;
·        
Regularly counseling students and staff, in
collaboration with the Human Resource, Finance and Administrative Manager (for
Staff), with personal problems and ensure their welfare;
·        
Overseeing, enforce and ensure the integrity of
teaching and all the examinations and also proper custody of students’ results;
·        
Supporting the Administrative Officer in overseeing
and coordinating general cleanliness, environmental maintenance and renovations
at the Institution;
·        
Actively participating in the relevant reforms of
the College, Board and those of the Ministry of Education and Sports – where
necessary;
·        
Assisting the Principal to take Minutes during the
Governing Council meetings;
·        
Organising and chairing departmental academic
meetings;
·        
Coordinating periodic reviews of the Institution’s
curriculum, to ensure responsiveness to the market needs and demands;
·        
Preparing academic plans, programmes and schedules
including timetable, for theory, practical teaching at the College and
Practicum Centres;
·        
Establishing the necessary equipment for training
and ensure the rational Distribution and utilization;
·        
Conducting any other duties related to the
profession and for the better performance of the College as assigned to you by
your supervisor or the relevant authority of the College.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The Deputy Principal should be qualified with EITHER
a Diploma in Midwifery OR should be Double Registered Nurse with an Advanced
Diploma in Health Tutorship, and proven managerial experience in handling
students’ affairs. Possession of a Degree in Nursing, Medical Education or
Health Services Management is an added advantage.

The applicant must also be registered with the
Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council, with a minimum of three years’ teaching
and/or practical experience.
