intergovernmental organization dealing with migration.  IOM works to help ensure the orderly and
humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on
migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration
problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including
refugees and internally displaced people. The IOM, acting as implementing
partner for the European Commission, is seeking to recruit a number of local
staff for support functions assigned to the European Union Election Observation
Mission (EU EOM) in Uganda.
Job
Summary:
The Operations
Expert Assistant will perform operations and administrative activities relative
to the operational aspects of the project such as transport of personnel and
cargo by land and air (car fleet supervision, flight booking and shuttle
service), logistics and procurements (supervision of diverse kits and briefing
packs assembling) etc. in liaison with the EU EOM office in Uganda to ensure
the efficient implementation of all instructions.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:  
·        
The ideal
candidate for the IOM Operations Expert Assistant career opportunity should
hold a degree or appropriate higher education qualification
·        
A
minimum of three years’ experience (preferably with International Organizations
or NGOs in the related field).
·        
All candidates
should be non-partisan
·        
Excellent
command of English
·        
Excellent
analytical and drafting skills
·        
Computer
literacy i.e. familiar with MS Windows, Excel and Outlook.
·        
Willingness
and flexibility to work in an environment with an intensive workload
·        
Candidates
must be willing to work flexible hours and be able to perform under tight
deadlines.
·        
Fluency
in any other local language would be an asset.
