University of Science & Technology (MUST), commonly known as Mbarara
University, is a public university in Uganda. Mbarara University commenced
student intake and instruction in 1989. It is one of the eight public
universities and degree-awarding institutions in the country. MUST is
accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
The incumbent will implement, update and monitor the
staff training and development policy
·        
Identify and develop priority areas for academic
training by means of a consultative process with stakeholders
·        
Develop and maintain, a record of training
institutions and individuals in the respective specialized disciplines of the
university
·        
Identify and streamline priority areas for workplace
skills training
·        
The incumbent will develop and maintain a record of
career development and succession plans for all eligible staff
·        
Develop and update criteria for identifying staff to
be trained
·        
The incumbent will plan, arrange and monitor staff
training through workshops and Seminars
·        
Develop, produce and update induction course
materials and carry out orientation
·        
Actively monitor, evaluate and generate reports
about all training activities in line with the Strategic Plan
·        
Generate, maintain and update a database for the
beneficiaries of all forms of training programs in the university
·        
Develop and review a framework for knowledge
management in line with the HR policy
·        
Offer secretarial services to the staff training
& development committee
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The Training & Development Officer should hold a
Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized Institution
·        
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree (at least upper
2nd class) in Human Resource Management or Social Sciences with HR, Personnel
Management
·        
The applicant should have a minimum of four years’ experience
in Human Resource/Personnel Management in a reputable organisation.
·        
Prior experience in a similar role shall be an added
advantage.
