(aBi) Trust is an institution set up by the governments of Uganda and Denmark
to support agribusiness initiatives in the country. In particular it is to
support the private sector to increase their contribution to the agricultural
sector by increasing productivity and competitiveness leading to poverty
reduction through economic growth, wealth, and employment creation.  The vision of aBi Trust is of “competitive
private sector led agriculture in Uganda” with the mission to “promote private
sector driven agribusiness development to enhance wealth creation in the
country.” The aBi Trust achieves its mission and vision through interrelated
Job Summary: The Senior
Finance Officer provides technical support to the Chief Manager Finance by providing
the technical guidance and support to management, in accounting and financial
management for the aBi Trust.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
Prepare and submit accurate and timely periodic
management reports for various stakeholders of the Trust.
Prepare timely annual financial statements and
coordinate the external audit.
The job holder will ensure proper recording of all
the financial transactions in an IT based accounting software and also ensure general
ledger reconciliations.
Update and maintain records of all the different
investment accounts for the Trust.
Manage all payments to the different payees.
In charge of oversight and updating of the Trust
Fixed assets Register.
Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax and
other statutory remittances.
Support the Chief Manager Finance in engaging the
board’s audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial
operating models and delivery.
Take part in training and coaching the different
players in the Grant management process on financial matter.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chief
Manager Finance.
Key Performance Indicators:
Attainment of set turnaround times for both internal
and external customers
Timeliness in report preparation
Timeliness in filing statutory returns
% and timely follow up on resolutions of audit
action points
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
The ideal candidate for the aforementioned vacancy
must hold a Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA or CFA and a
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Business
Administration and any other relevant professional course from a recognized
At least five years of progressive management
experience, as a manager in a Finance and accounting function.
Working knowledge and understanding of Financial
Reporting Standards.
Broad knowledge and understanding of accounting for
donor funds.
Detailed understanding of all aBi’s policies and
Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in Microsoft
programs and accounting software packages
Good report writing skills
Impeccable level of integrity
Keen attention on detail.
Ability to execute duties within the set timelines
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with
ability to contribute to business success.
