envisions a world where people experience and extend Christ’s compassion and
live together in hope as God’s community. World Renew serves as the
development, disaster response, and justice arm of the Christian Reformed
Church in North America. The aspects of World Renew’s work are three-fold: Community
Development, Disaster Response & Rehabilitation Advocacy.
(Regional) Team Leader provides overall direction, regional and administrative
leadership to ensure team organization, team development, and team performance
and represent the regional ministry team (MT) to the World Renew agency
directors, teams, denominational (CRCNA) agencies and institutions, and
external organizations.
Set and implement World Renew’s regional strategy so
that it builds on the strengths of disaster response and community development
programming and effectively and appropriately integrates the work of disaster
response and community development into a cohesive regional level program
The incumbent will prepare a multi-year operational
plan, with input from various stakeholders, that clearly articulates how
strategic priorities will be funded, operationalized and achieved in a given
time period
Ensure that World Renew’s vision and values as well
as the regional strategy objectives are communicated amongst staff to foster
mutual understanding and ownership
Ensure that regional capacity and resources
positively impact the regional strategy
Oversee the regional team in focusing on and
achieving the program performance impacts and outcomes by:
evaluating team program performance
approving each country team’s annual plans, budgets and provide agency directors
with a team review semi-annually.
a regular review with each country team providing feedback and quarterly
progress reports
and monitoring team processes for gathering feedback from other stakeholders
financial accountability of all ministry team resources
grant compliance within the region
Lead the ministry team in managing its work within
organizational and team boundaries by:
alignment of the team’s vision and long-range plan with World Renew’s and
CRCNA’s vision, mission, strategies, policies, and values
collaboration with other World Renew teams, Co-Directors, with stakeholders,
and, where applicable, with other CRCNA agencies
and monitoring inter-team written agreements
appropriate information sharing and decision making
leadership to the overall regional strategic planning and budgeting process
leading ministry team meetings, preferably twice per year
administrative responsibilities
disaster responses within the region in alignment with World Renew’s
international disaster response protocols
Facilitate the ministry team’s growth by:
cross-team learning and training
team initiative and awareness of new opportunities in the region
spiritual foundations to the work and arranging appropriate spiritual retreats
and supervising the Main Team Self Assessment Survey (MTSAS) process of the
team
Plan regular visits to team members, partners and
partner programs throughout the ministry team region to carry out strategic
directions
Lead the management team for the East Africa
Ministry Team, ensuring that staff development plans are in place and there is
clarity about plans and priorities. Provide supervision, guidance and mentoring
for direct reports. Encourage effective team work and inclusiveness and build a
team spirit and culture characterized by a shared vision, commitment and mutual
accountability that reflects World Renew’s values and policies
Conduct Carry out annual performance appraisals
according to the World Renew performance management procedures and take
appropriate remedial action with the country team to address any areas of gap
or poor performance
Carry out disciplinary and grievance procedures as
required, seeking advice of other management staff including home office
management staff where and when appropriate
Promote healthy engagement and fund raising with
constituents including churches through various activities, in collaboration
with the constituency relations team,
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience:
The ideal candidate should hold a Master’s degree in
a related field
At least eight years’ experience in a cross-cultural
international management or organizational development role working in a
community development, disaster response, and/or organizational consultation
environment
Three years’ experience in staff supervision, and
program and/or grant management
The applicant must be a mature Christian committed
to serving Jesus Christ and with a strong sense of calling
Show commitment to promote a work environment that

Working knowledge of and a commitment to the core
development and relief concepts, models, and values
Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Significant experience in people management and
development is essential
Effective facilitation, negotiation, active
listening, decision-making/problem-solving skills is required
Working understanding of and practices the
principles of servant leadership
Ability to manage in complex/chaotic environments
using a systematic approach
Demonstrated ability to implement, improve, and
integrate community development programs through consultation
Detailed working knowledge and experience with
disaster response
Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate with
partner organizations
An ability to relate to CRC donors and diverse,
international donors (granting institutions), including knowledge and oversight
of project and grant management
Demonstrated competence in administration,
supervision, and budgeting
Effective written and verbal communication skills
required
Fluent in English with effective written and verbal
communications skills is required
Fluency in a language native to the ministry team
region is an asset
