About IntraHealth:
For over 30 years, in nearly
100 countries, IntraHealth International has empowered health workers to better
serve communities in need. IntraHealth fosters local solutions to health care
challenges by improving health worker performance, strengthening health
systems, harnessing technology, and leveraging partnerships. IntraHealth has
been working in Uganda for over 25 years.  The current project, the
USAID-funded Strengthening Human Resources for Health Activity, works to
strengthen the capacities of ministries, districts, professional councils, and
private not-for-profit organizations to better plan and manage the health
workforce for improved health outcomes. This is achieved through three main
result areas:
Result 1: Increased and
equitable recruitment, deployment, and retention of health workers
Result 2: Improved health
worker performance at all levels
Result 3: Improved pre-service
training to meet the needs of Uganda
Job Summary: The
Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Fellow will work closely with the M&E
and senior technical teams to perform data analysis and assess trends to
illustrate and document the link between health systems strengthening
activities and improvements in service delivery and health outcomes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Analyze
    data from current and past projects to identify data trends
  • Carry
    out investigations on the implications of those trends on health service
    delivery and health outcomes
  • Work
    closely with the M&E team to design and implement special surveys to
    collect appropriate data to illustrate the impacts of project
    interventions beyond routine project reporting
  • Document
    findings from data analysis and surveys
  • Introduce
    creative approaches to communicating project impact
  • Work
    with M&E teams on project operations research
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The
    applicant should have applied experience in M&E in a developing
    country context strongly preferred
  • Hold
    a Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences or related field
  • Field
    experience in health programs, the health workforce, human resources
    management and health systems strengthening
  • Excellent
    data analysis and research skills including usage of statistical software
    packages (i.e. STATA, SAS etc.)
  • Excellent
    communication and leadership skills, demonstrated strong writing skills
  • High
    degree of flexibility in planning and implementing activities
  • Conceptual
    thinker with excellent organizational skills, time management skills,
    attention to detail, and self-motivated
  • Willingness
    to travel within the country
  • Possesses

Job Terms and Conditions: Fellows
will be provided with housing, health insurance and a living stipend of
$550/month. Additionally, fellows will receive an award of $1500 upon
successful completion of the fellowship year. Flights to and from the placement
site and all other costs associated with GHC programming are included,
including $600 in professional development funds. Housing will be arranged in
Kampala.
Note: The living
stipend and completion award may be paid out in USD or local currency, as
determined by the placement organization.
