Christian University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological
College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College
trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The
local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono.
International partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The
Church Mission Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the
College had the necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s,
the Church of Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the
higher education – not only of clergy but of other professionals as well.

Job Summary: The Network
Administrator will be responsible for the installation, setup, and monitoring
of the local area network (LAN). He/ She will carry out a variety of
maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to ensure that LAN
performance meets the College and users requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and administer network workstation, utilizing
one or more TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols and/or one or more
UNIX-based operating systems.

In charge of evaluating and recommending purchase of
computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.

Perform and/or oversee software and any systems
development, installation, and upgrades.

The incumbent will be in charge of planning and
implementing network security, including building firewalls, applying
cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions,
backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and deleting users.

Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

The Network Administrator must hold a good (2:1)
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from a
recognized accredited institution of higher learning.
