Operations Manager
Ltd. is a licensed Public Service Provider and Public Infrastructure Provider,
with the Uganda Communications Commission dealing in Voice over Internet
Protocol (VOIP) call termination and Wholesale Data, trading as Roke Telkom.
Support and Sales Engineer will be responsible for providing support in order
to build and maintain a reliable and quality network infrastructure for ROKE
Telkom clients and to proactively seek and secure new business in line with set
monthly targets.
The incumbent will be supervising contractors and/or
sub-contractors to ensure that network infrastructure works are carried out as
per specification and within the stipulated project completion lead time.
Responsible for maintaining the network
infrastructure in good working order.
Responsible for resolving technical onsite and
offsite customer queries.
Actively participate in planning, co-ordinating and
executing scheduled or emergency maintenance activities on the network.
Responsible for documenting all aspects pertaining
to the network infrastructure.
Managing internal and external communications
effectively using the most appropriate channels, ensuring they are timely,
co-ordinated, coherent, and reflective of the company’s vision and are customer
focused.
In charge of monitoring system and network health
and availability using established monitoring tools.
Engaging with procurement processes by securing
supply contracts for major ICT/ISP projects.
Supporting Roke Telkom’s network expansion by
participating in planning and execution of the extension of both fibre and
wireless network infrastructure to increase service coverage.
The incumbent will also be supporting customers in
making buying decisions and to explain product benefits in an accurate and
appealing manner.
Consistently meet or exceed sales targets set for
the role of Field Support and Sales Engineer as outlined by the Sales Manager
on a monthly basis.
The ideal candidate should hold a University Degree
(BSc) Computer Science or Telecommunications Engineering from a recognized
university.
Hold professional CCNP / CCIP Certification or equivalent
from a recognised institution.
A CFOT Certificate is an added advantage.
At least two years’ experience as a field support
engineer in the telecoms sector.
Prior exposure and experience with transmission
technologies, microwave and fibre optic.
Previous experience in advanced networking.
Skills and experience in end user support.
Computer literacy skills i.e. proficient with
Project Excel, Visio and MS office.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong negotiation skills.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
