About USAID Project:
UHMG was
awarded the USAID/Uganda Social Marketing Activity, a four-year cooperative
agreement for a health sector-wide program. The program’s goal is to contribute
to a reduction in new HIV infections, total fertility, maternal and child
mortality, malnutrition and malaria, and to improve access to family planning.
This four-year activity aims to improve utilization of and increase the uptake
of health-related social marketing products and services among under-served
Ugandan consumers and communities in rural and urban areas.
Job Summary: The Brand
Officers will provide professional support in the development, implementation, and
monitoring of the activities and performance of the UHMG brands as per the set
brands strategies. The Brand strategies will be based upon robust consumer
insights that will unlock the future potential of the USAID Brand Portfolio. The
incumbent will also support the supervisor in the development of a brand
marketing plan and associated budgets, and in the areas of brand innovation,
promotion, and management, and shall work closely with the field teams to ensure
that all field activity plans for the brands are communicated and incorporated
into the monthly field activity plans. The incumbent will render support in
ensuring achievement of the budgeted volumes, market share, brand health
measures and marketing budget, and hence will require a fast learner,
self-driven, seasoned, and experienced person with skills to manage and oversee
these technical areas.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
·        
Develops a detailed operating plan for each brand
based on the brand marketing plan and established targets.
·        
Work in liaison with the supervisor in the
implementation of brand strategies with the aim stimulating demand, creating
awareness and market share growth.
·        
Render support in conducting brand promotional
activities to increase product knowledge, while generating demand to support
second shelf off-take from Trade.
·        
Take part in the development of all promotion
materials and inputs necessary for achieving brand targets.
·        
Generate individual brand operational plans, oversee
grass root execution, and provide evidence-based reports.
·        
Support partnerships with key corporate
organizations and Social Enterprise Organizations (SEOs) to increase product
knowledge and uptake.
·        
Coordinate media and marketing agencies to execute
and monitor planned media and marketing activities.
·        
Generate brand procurement plans and liaise with
Procurement Department to ensure that brand promotional materials are timely
procured and manage a consumption tracker.
·        
Use sales and inventory reports to analyze and stock
levels to assure there are no product stock-outs.
·        
Make sure that adequate supplies of promotional
materials, point of sales materials, and other promotional inputs are available
and provided to the field implementing teams so that they can implement brand
field activities.
·        
Generate periodical consumer insights reports to
guide strategy innovations.
·        
Actively participate in consumer and market research
activities, needed as input to marketing plan, and to address problems,
challenges, or opportunities, or to understand why brand objectives are/are not
being met, and provide recommendations on consumer insights, brand health
analysis, market review, etc.
·        
Identify new business opportunities for brand
growth.
·        
Work to build brand equity through proper planning,
execution and evaluation of various brand promotional activities as a brand
custodian, and assisting in the planning, execution and evaluation of various
marketing activities.
·        
Carry out regular market visits to be constantly
aware of ongoing and new activities in the trade. Collect market intelligence
on trends that have an impact on the brands’ performance and develops
appropriate and timely responses to market feedback.
·        
Conduct regular monitoring and reporting on brand
performance, identify challenges to achievement of targets on a real-time
basis, and initiate quick action to address problems.
·        
Maintain healthy and productive relationships with
the Sales and Promotions teams to ensure impactful execution of brand promotion
activities.
·        
Prepare regular reports on the progress of the
brands including sales, expenses, promotions carried out during the month,
competitor information, new business opportunities, and plans for the
subsequent month.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
·        
The applicants for the Brand Officer vacancies
should hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Commerce, Marketing, or Business
Administration, or related field.
·        
Possession of a Post graduate Diploma in Brand
Management, Sales and Marketing is essential.
·        
Professional/certified qualification, e.g. CIMA is
an added advantage.
·        
A minimum of four years’ relevant experience working
in the field of brand marketing experience in FMCG company or donor
environment, with proven track record in areas of brand management, campaign development,
execution and evaluation.
·        
Previous experience working with USAID programs will
be an added advantage.
·        
Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in relevant
computer applications and databases, with practical skills and experience
required
·        
The Brand Officer should have the ability to work
under minimum supervision, and maintain a clean administrative and transparent
system while adhering to set procedures.
·        
Highly self-motivated, focused, disciplined
professional, with the drive and dynamism to work under pressure with competing
deadlines, and possess the ability to make an immediate impact.
·        
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical
and result-oriented skills
·        
Prior experience in managing objectives with the
customer in mind.
·        
Good judgment, initiative, high sense of
responsibility, tactful, ability to plan, organize and measure outcomes of
interventions.
·        
Exemplary and honest, with a high level of energy
and integrity, and able to work under minimum supervision.
·        
High degree of flexibility, innovativeness
·        
Good record keeping skills
·        
Excellent communication and presentation skills
·        
Good report writing, and interpersonal skills.
·        
Team player with the ability to make positive
contributions.
·        
S/he should be detail- and results-oriented, have
strong conceptual, analytical, and reporting skills, with expertise in
information gathering, analysis and timely reporting, be proactive in
instituting innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective interventions, and work
dedicatedly to fulfill the organization’s goals, while upholding the Core
