Job Summary: The Community
Development Assistant Agriculture will support the Project Manager in
implementing and tracking timely deliverable of project and administrative
plans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
Mobilization
and capacity building of beneficiaries:
Identify together with the
community, potential beneficiaries for support and implement project activities
in the area of assignment.
Mobilization,
Sensitization, and registration of beneficiaries
·        
Facilitate formation and reorganization of farmer
groups
·        
Enhance capacities of beneficiaries in agronomy,
nutrition, marketing and value addition
Monitoring
and supporting project beneficiaries
·        
Maintain constant and consistent contact with the
beneficiaries/farmer groups to ensure focus and progression in what they are
doing.
·        
In charge of monitoring and reporting on
Distribution of project inputs and seeds
·        
Prepare and submit activity implementation schedules
·        
Monitor and report on planting and utilization of
supplied inputs and tools
·        
Follow up and regularly report on marketing
activities in the area
·        
Document and share impact/change stories on
communities within operation area
·        
Planning and management of schedules and
implementation of actions
·        
Carry out farmer training with other stakeholders
according to plan
·        
Keenly track planting of orange sweet potatoes &
High Iron Beans and make comparisons
·        
Organize Child Nutrition and cooking demonstrations
as well as farmer field days
·        
Organize and facilitate community drama shows
creating awareness on nutritional benefits of bio-fortified crops
Networking
with the local leaders and other organizations:
·        
Map out and work with other partners in the
community and the sub-county
·        
Organize and participate in Sub-County planning and
review meetings
·        
Establish and maintain contact with institutions in
promoting agriculture, nutrition and health in the sub-county of assignment.
·        
Work through and with Farmer Field Schools and other
farmer associations for the benefit of the target farmer groups
Documentation:
·        
Collect and document relevant data on project
implementation, summarize into reports
·        
Compile and send to the supervisor activity reports
on schedule with progress stories
·        
Regularly share speaking photos for inclusion in
reports, publications etc
Advocacy
and Innovation:
·        
Work in liaison with schools and health centres in
scaling up biofortified crops
·        
Organize and facilitate farmer contests to increase
planting material and knowledge
·        
Innovatively increase payback of planting material
among beneficiaries
·        
The incumbent will strengthen commercial production
of Orange sweet potatoes and high iron beans
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
·        
The applicant should preferably hold a Degree/diploma
in agriculture disciplines: Rural Development, Agri-business, Nutrition or its
equivalent
·        
At least two years’ experience in agriculture,
agriculture extension, or agricultural related livelihoods.
·        
Previous experience with implementing agriculture or
livelihood projects among communities recovering from war is an added
advantage.
·        
Previous experience of community mobilization and
facilitation in adult learning.
·        
Excellent track record of data collection, entry and
analysis.
·        
Relevant teamwork experience
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills
·        
Good communication skill s
·        
Ability to work sensitively and relate with people
from a variety of social backgrounds.
·        
Commitment to implementing WV’s vision and mission
at all levels and in all aspects of the project.
·        
Excellent track record of demonstrating high
integrity, reliability and dependability
·        
Computer literate
·        
Good writing and reporting skills
·        
Ability to communicate in English and fluency in Luo
as a local language
·        
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
·        
Willingness to reside within the sub-county of
assignment.
