About US:
The United
States Government under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief
(PEPFAR) is a
key partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda that plans to complement
the Government of Uganda’s (GOU) effort in addressing the Human Resources for
Health (HRH) shortage. The support aims to scale up HIV/AIDS prevention, care
and treatment interventions in light of the rising HIV/AIDS prevalence in the
country. Health workers recruited under this support will be contracted by the
implementing Partners and they will be seconded to St Anthony’s Hospital-Tororo,
an implementing partner of PEPFAR.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·        
Works closely with ward managers in the preparation
of patients for laboratory tests.
·        
Participate in the proper collection, handling and
transportation of specimens to the laboratory.
·        
Conducts laboratory analysis, interprets results and
submits reports to Clinicians.
·        
In charge of sending requisitions for equipment and
other supplies.
·        
Ensures that equipment is functional and well
maintained.
·        
Manages and accounts for allocated resources.
·        
Ensures safety measures against hazards.
·        
Actively participates in safety assurance to
laboratories.
·        
Participates in research.
·        
Adheres to the relevant Codes of Conduct and Ethics.
·        
Performs any other duties as may be assigned from
time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·        
The applicants must hold National Diplomas in
Medical Laboratory Techniques or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
·        
They must be registered with the Allied Health
Professionals Council.
·        
At least two years’ experience as a Laboratory
Technician.
