About MasterCard Foundation DYNAMIC
Programme:
Working in
consortia with GOAL, VSO and Restless Development, the Driving Youth-led New
Agribusiness and Microenterprise (DYNAMIC) program which will strengthen
systems and facilitate creation of sustainable economic opportunities for
disadvantaged youth. The goal is to increase the number of youth in secure
employment/self-employment and to promote agricultural market systems for
youth. DYNAMIC will reach 125,000 out-of-school youth aged 15–24 in eight
districts of northern Uganda over five years.
Job Summary: The Market
Development Officers will be responsible for implementing all aspects of the
market systems development component of the district and lower level DYNAMIC
program. The incumbent will apply a wide variety of market development tools
and approaches in order to catalyze innovative services and facilitate linkages
between market actors in the assigned program areas.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
In charge of the planning, developing and
implementing market development activities.
·        
Establish and maintain good coordination and working
relationships with sub-county leaders, representing Mercy Corps and soliciting
participation in activities where appropriate.
·        
Responsible for documentation, monitoring,
evaluation and reporting.
·        
Prepare and submit timely weekly, monthly, and
quarterly reports that will be indicative of program progress during
implementation.
·        
Introduce program to relevant stakeholders including
local business owners, local representatives and community members.
·        
Render support in developing and using capacity
building materials for business, technical and financial skills.
·        
Regularly mobilize targeted youth to fully
participate in the program for sustainability.
·        
Identify small business activities for support
through basic improvements or inputs.
·        
Work closely with supervisor to capture data for
measuring output and impact of the program.
·        
Identify value-addition opportunities that
strengthen economic opportunities, Conduct himself/herself both professionally
and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not
jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicants must hold good Bachelor’s Degrees in
business, agribusiness, economic development or other relevant field
·        
At least three years’ experience in business or
market/economic development in the private sector or related industry.
·        
Prior experience with market facilitation,
supporting systemic change and promoting supporting services indirectly, is
preferred.
·        
Working knowledge of the agricultural sectors highly
desirable.
·        
Hands-on experience in working with both very small,
small and medium sized companies in a development setting.
·        
Strong writing, communication, organization, prioritization
and negotiating skills.
·        
Excellent (English) verbal and written communication
skills. Language skills in Luo highly valued.
·        
Strong computer literacy with a full knowledge of
office applications.
·        
Excellent attention to detail and ability to complete
tasks in a timely manner.
·        
Excellent teamwork abilities and interpersonal
skills.
·        
Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm
as well as a willingness to learn and to be continually adaptive within a
dynamic and often self-directed working environment mandatory.
·        
Willingness to spend much time in the field and work
closely with program target groups.
