is a faith- based local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) offering
Comprehensive HIV Care & treatment, Training, Research & General
Medical Services; also providing Health Systems Strengthening to scale up
comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services in 16 districts of Central Uganda.
Job Summary:  The Laboratory Manager will provide technical guidance
and direction to Mildmay Uganda’s laboratory function and manage it in a manner
that ensures effective laboratory services, training, research, and health
systems strengthening.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will ensure that the laboratory
practice is compliant to accreditation standards
Strengthen systems for laboratory quality assurance
in supported district sites
Employ sustainability mechanisms for the laboratory
Actively promote effective working partnerships with
national and international laboratory authorities
Significantly contribute to evidence-based
laboratory practice
Qualifications, Skills and
The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Biomedical Laboratory Technology / Medical Laboratory Services with post
graduate training in Biomedical Sciences or Laboratory Quality Management
Must be a registered member of the Allied Health
Professional Council
At least five years of technical experience in a
busy medical laboratory, three years in a management position and training and
/ or experience in ISO 15189, SLMTA, and GCLP implementation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in various MS
Office packages
Working knowledge of English and local languages
Evidence of a non-judgemental approach regarding
race, religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical.
