Coordinator
Specialist will manage all litigation matters, provide legal advisory services
and ensure compliance with the Law.
Providing legal services in collaboration with the
Office of the Solicitor General in all legal matters,
Providing legal advice on land acquisition in the
day-to-day operations in line with the existing legislation and general
practices;
Regular review contracts/agreements, licenses and
other legal instruments relating to land acquisition;
In charge of participating in conducting
Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for
identified project locations.
Offering representation in all land acquisition litigation
and arbitration matters;
Ensuring adequate legal coverage of all acquired
land as part of the risk management strategy;
Guiding on policy and regulatory initiatives
regarding land acquisition.
Preparing and submitting periodic reports.
Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the Project
Coordinator.
Experience:
The Ugandan applicants must hold Bachelor’s degrees
in Law;
Possession of a Diploma in Legal practice;
Enrolled Advocate of the High Court;
Hold a valid Practicing Certificate.
At least four years’ experience in practicing law.
Broad knowledge and understanding of Land Property
Laws.
Hands-on experience in handling and adjudication of
procurement matters preferably in the field of Land Acquisition, Construction
Works and related Services.
Practical experience in providing advisory services
of a busy Organization or Government office preferably in areas of Contracts,
Guarantees, Bonds and Insurance.
Practical experience in drafting, interpreting and
litigating on Works and related Service contracts.
Proven working knowledge of laws governing Roads,
Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets, Land, Arbitration, Financial
Accountability and Ugandan law in general
Excellent interpersonal and team working skills with
ability to easily coordinate with the relevant enforcement organs;
Highly proactive with knowledge of working with
communities.
Good team player with good negotiation skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of
integrity
