Africa Uganda (BAU) programmes focus on Education and Livelihood improvement.
BAU currently works in 13 districts with its field programs coordinated through
two Area offices located in Kumi and Masindi.
has secured funding from Big Lottery Fund UK to implement a three year project
– Improving Learning and Attainment in Primary Education, Uganda (ILEAP) that
aims at ensuring that boys and girls in P1 to P3 receive support for their
learning, both in and out of school. This is to enable them acquire the
fundamental skills they need in order to achieve a good level of educational
attainment. Implemented in 40 primary schools within Ngora and Bukedea
districts, the ILEAP project will work directly with three key target groups;
children in early years of school, teachers of early years classes and parents
of the children in early years.
Officer will be responsible for the implementation of the ILEAP Project. The incumbent
will provide technical and operational oversight for the project implementation
and will be expected to continually observe the day-to-day effectiveness of the
project delivery, noting and reporting any areas where improvements are
possible. The incumbent will also work in liaison with the Project Assistant in
carrying out the agreed project activities, including Monitoring, Evaluation
and Learning (MEL) activities. S/he will work closely with the project
partners, will be a member of the project implementation team.
Experience:
The Project Officer should hold a relevant degree
(Education, Development Studies, Social work and Community based development)
A minimum of three years related work experience.
Prior exposure and experience in managing education
community based projects with a focus on early grade reading or early childhood
development.
Prior experience of working within child protection
framework
Significant experience of direct work with children
Prior exposure and experience of developing and
facilitating training sessions
Broad knowledge and understanding of the education
systems
Working knowledge and experience of MEL approaches,
methods and tool
Good knowledge and understanding of project cycle
management
Previous exposure and experience of direct working
with communities
Excellent organizational and planning skills
Good report writing and computer skills.
High degree of integrity that will model BAU’s core
values.
Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid Rider’s
permit
Working knowledge of teacher pedagogy
Knowledge of the local language is an added
advantage
