(OAF) is an International NGO that supports smallholder farmers to increase
their harvests and thus increase their incomes with a strong footprint in
Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania. In these countries our 3,000+ strong
staff serves over 200,000 smallholding farmers and helps them to grow their way
out of hunger and poverty. To do this, One Acre Fund provides farmers with
high-quality inputs like seed and fertilizer, financing, and training.
responsible for the oversight of the One Acre Fund Uganda HQ office in Jinja,
liaising with security services, managing maintenance and stocking of our
office and other properties, managing visitor systems and the development of
systems relating to the health, safety, and transport needs of our staff.
Office Administration – Overseeing all
office systems including housekeeping, stocking, maintenance, office security,
utilities (water, power, and internet) and storage systems. This may also
include some reception work
Residential Management – In charge of managing
support systems for any residences which One Acre Fund uses to house staff or
guests (currently, we have one in Jinja, we may have two by early 2016). This
includes managing systems for housekeeping, grounds-keeping, security, and
stocking of guestrooms and efficient maintenance of the buildings
Visitor Logistics: The job holder
will be responsible for organizing transport, accommodation and some scheduling
for visitors to our program.
Other Projects: The incumbent will
be joining our Corporate Operations department, a new team in our Uganda office
with ambitious goals. Your role may include taking on new projects such as:
on-boarding systems for any new Uganda programme staff
services for the team
information for staff relating to health, safety and security
Management and development of staff – Early in
your One Acre Fund career, you will manage at least one member of staff. This
may grow as our program grows. Focusing on becoming an excellent manager to
your staff will be an important part of your role
Expense and finance management – The incumbent will
be responsible for organizing payments relating to your work, accounting for
these payments, and preparing reports on these details
The Corporate Operations Associate should possess a
minimum of two years’ experience in an administration, human resources, or
logistics role
Highly skilled with computer software, including
Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular)
Excellent communication skills, both written and
oral.
Strong writing and email correspondence skills are a
must
Prior exposure and experience of managing or giving
direction in a professional environment.
Warm, welcoming, and humble demeanour
Proven ability to work within deadlines
Ability to multitask and prioritise – You will be
managing many tasks simultaneously
Keen attention to detail – One Acre Fund has
exceptionally high standards and all projects must be completed to a very
detailed level
Ability to work under minimum supervision
Leadership experience – You may be managing several
people in the future, and we are looking for someone who has great leadership
qualities
Past experience in business, entrepreneurship or NGO
administration
The incumbent must be extremely organized,
passionate and a capable individual responsible for managing office systems and
a number of people-support projects.
