(AMwA) is an international, Pan-African, non-governmental development
organisation for African women with its Head Office in Kampala, Uganda.
established in 1985 as a small community-based organisation, which sought to
create a space for African women to organise autonomously, network with each
other, share skills and expertise, identify issues of concern and speak for
themselves, which was essential considering their position as migrants and
refugees in the UK.
will support the programmes team in the design, implementation and
management of programme initiatives relevant to African women, in line with
AMwA’s mission and objectives.
Assist the Program Team develop, coordinate and implement leadership and
advocacy programmes:
Support the various Programme Officers in the
design, implementation and management of policy advocacy and programme
initiatives relevant to African women, in line with AMwA’s mission and
objectives.
In charge of building and maintaining local
partnerships and networks
Identify, implement and support research initiatives
at national and regional level as well as document and share key learning
within and without the organisation on policy advocacy initiatives and the
achievement of AMwA strategic objectives.
Write and disseminate timely reports on progress of
relevant projects pertaining to the organisation’s monitoring and funding
requirements.
In charge of the participation in the AMwA organisational
activities and events
Undertake such additional duties as may be required
commensurate with the level of the post holder and as directed by the Head of
Programs or Programme Officers.
Human Resource Management: Pursue a professional leadership style, grounded in
feminist principles
Experience:
The Program Intern should hold a good University
Degree
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing
skills
The candidate should have knowledge in project planning
and management.
Ability to work as part of a team, to work
unsupervised, to organize workload, set priorities and meet deadlines
Keen attention to detail with a desire to achieve
work objectives
Ability to accomplish tasks promptly with minimum supervision.
High degree of integrity, confidentiality and
tolerance of diverse cultures, sexual orientation, choices and political
opinions.
