The Uganda Law
Reform Commission is established under Article 248(1) of the Constitution of
the Republic of Uganda. Its primary mandate is to study and keep under constant
review the Acts and all other laws comprising the laws of Uganda with a view to
making recommendations for their systematic improvement, development,
modernisation and reform.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Commissioner, Law Reform will be deputizing
for the head of department – Law Reform;

Supporting the commissioner of law reform in the day
– today administration and management of the department;

Ensuring efficient and effective co-ordination of
law reform projects and activities;

Mentoring, supervising and appraising staff of the
department;

Responsible for training and holding consultations on
law reform projects and activities according to the Commission’s policy;

Work closely with other government departments and
stakeholders in the tasks of proposing measures for reforming the laws of
Uganda;

development strategies and projects in the field of law reform;

Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:

The applicants should be Ugandans who possess Honours
Degrees in law from a recognized university and a diploma in legal practice.
Possession of a relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.

three of which should be at the level of Principal Legal officer in government
or equivalent experience from a reputable organisation;
