Canada is an international charity organization that works with war-affected
communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to
education, opportunity and justice. In Uganda, through its Youth and Peace
Building Programs, War Child Canada builds refugee and Ugandan youth capacity
to live peaceful and productive lives. War Child Canada will now be
implementing the USAID funded programme Suluhu: promoting Cross Border Peace
Building through Youth Engagement in the refugee settlements of the West Nile
region and Kiryandongo. War Child Canada also implements SGBV prevention and
response programming, namely the BPRM funded program Safe from the Start.
Job Summary: The Youth
Outreach Officers and / Community Mobilization Officers will be responsible for
mobilization, implementation and development of community sensitization
activities for beneficiary- community and all actors relevant to achieving the
project goal. The job holders will also be directly working with refugee and
host communities in the settlements these persons are the first points of
contact for the youth engaged in our programming.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Develop and provide community sensitizations and
dialogues.
·        
Engaging with youth and their communities in support
of program participation.
·        
Articulating the work of War Child Canada and the
Suluhu program to community members
·        
The job holders will be supporting and facilitating youth
led organization to increase access to training and peace building activities
·        
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project
Manager or Head of Office.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The applicants for the Youth Outreach Officer / Community
Mobilization Officer jobs must hold degrees in Social Work, Community
Development, Psychology or Social Sciences.
·        
A minimum of two years’ experience working with
youth preferably conflict affected youth.
·        
Previous experience working with refugee populations
is an advantage.
·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of child
protection and gender equality.
·        
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
·        
Ability to prepare timely, periodic and quality
project and monitoring reports.
·        
Fluency in English and local language is essential.
