States Government under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief
key partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda that plans to complement
the Government of Uganda’s (GOU) effort in addressing the Human Resources for
Health (HRH) shortage. The support aims to scale up HIV/AIDS prevention, care
and treatment interventions in light of the rising HIV/AIDS prevalence in the
country. Health workers recruited under this support will be contracted by the
implementing Partners and they will be seconded to identified hospitals and
Health Centres.
Actively monitors usage of supplies and ensures
timely initiation of the procurement process.
The incumbent ensures proper safe collection,
handling and transportation of specimens (blood units) to the laboratory;
Performs laboratory analysis with utmost accuracy,
interprets results and submits reports;
Requests for essential equipment and supplies for
use in the laboratory;
Ensures laboratory equipment is secure, functional
and well maintained;
Ensures safety measures of staff against hazards;
Takes part in the quality assurance in laboratory;
Actively participates in research;
Imparts knowledge and skills to the laboratory
staff;
Ensures that laboratory staff adhere to Professional
Code of Conduct and Ethics;
Performs any other duties as be assigned from time
to time.
The Laboratory Technologist should hold a University
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or its equivalent from a recognized
Institution.
The applicants must be registered and licensed with
the Allied Health Professionals Council.
At least two years’ experience as a Laboratory
Technologist.
